Non-surgical Cosmetic Options vs. The Facelift – A comparison

Non-surgical cosmetic treatments have seen tremendous increase over the past few years despite the slow economy. This phenomenon along with other factors has contributed towards the slow decline in the demand for facelifts.

Let’s see how the 2 facial rejuvenation paths compare to each other. Since the non-surgical and surgical options treat different symptoms and areas of ageing, a direct comparison of them is impossible. However we drew up a reasonable comparison of the two, based on recovery, longevity and cost.

Recovery:

The biggest advantage of non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques is the almost negligible recovery period associated with each treatment such as Botox and Dermal Fillers. You can drop in at reputed cosmetic physician’s clinic during your lunch break and undergo the procedure. What’s more, you can get right back to work (especially non-strenuous work). The treatment itself may take between 15-30 minutes and you are good to go. The only apparent after effect during recovery is a little discomfort at the treatment site.

A surgical facelift, on the hand, requires you take at least a week off from work and other extracurricular activities. Also you will experience significant discomfort, bruising and swelling.

Longevity:

Non-surgical cosmetic treatments have a short lifespan compared to their surgical counterparts. While results from Botox treatments may last for 3 months, Dermal Fillers such as Juvederm assure results for as long as one year. Non-surgical treatments have to be repeated at regular intervals, but the good news is that each subsequent treatment slows down the ageing process and keeps you looking younger, longer.

Surgical facelifts give much longer lasting results most cosmetic surgeons cite 10 years as the amount of time you can expect the results of your face-lift to last.

Cost:

This is another important factor that’s driving up the demand for non-invasive cosmetic treatments. Facelift surgeries can cost as much as 20 times as non-invasive treatments. Besides, the cost of these treatments is spread out, making them much easier on the purse.

We have simply scratched the surface in terms of comparing cosmetic surgeries and treatments. However, prior to undergoing any type of treatment, always ensure you consult a fully qualified cosmetic physician for advice on which procedure is best for you.
