The treatment consists of a medically designed device that generates thousands of micro-medical needle-columns within the skin. These columns reach into the dermis layer of the skin and they are on average 0.1mm width and upto 2.5 mm in depth. Each column is quickly closed, which allows skin to achieve a fast recovery rate.

A topical anaesthetic is used to numb the skin so that the procedure is as comfortable as possible; this usually takes 30-40 minutes to take effect and then it takes up to another 30 minutes for the microneedling therapy to be completed.

Treatments are recommended in the clinic on three separate occasions, with a six week gap between procedures – although these treatments may be extended if the scarring is particularly severe. This is because the therapy can take time to repair and regenerate the skin. New collagen is produced, cells in the skin regenerate and enhanced blood supply is encouraged.
